Day One at the Liverpool Arabic Photo Studio

June 20, 2011

I’ve started a week long project in Liverpool 8’s ‘Lodge Lane’ area that involvements providing Liverpool’s Arabic community and it’s friends to ‘learn’ the basics of photography (very informally) and to document one another and their community. The project is about starting a process of visually recording and analysing the community in order to celebrate its contribution to the city of Liverpool past and present. There are various aims to the project but one of them is to try and get people to place value and importance of something that is creative that isnt nothing to do with money or profit. The whole process really is about those who might not have had a chance to try community based creative practice like this before the chance to learn something new and make work for one another for free.
